The San Antonio Sports community is abuzz with anticipation as the coaching lineup for the 2026 Sports All-Star Basketball Games presented by Valero has been officially announced. Scheduled for April 12 at Northside Sports Gym, the event promises a thrilling day of competition showcasing the talents of 120 high school seniors from both public and private schools across the region.
A Showcase of Talent and Community Spirit
This year’s competition features Team Blue going head-to-head against Team White, with separate divisions for 1A-5A and 6A schools. In addition to the boys and girls games, fans can look forward to an exciting all-star skills challenge and three-point contest, providing a platform for these young athletes to shine. The games will be broadcast live on KSAT 12, making it accessible for fans who want to support their teams from home.
Coaching Lineup and Player Nominations
The coaching roster is made up of returning and new talents. Notable returning coaches include Jaclyn Contreras from Brennan and Andrew Brewer from Alamo Heights. They will be joined by six new coaches: Vanessa Villarreal (Southwest), Ike Thornton (Smithson Valley), Lonny Hubbard (Steele), Ernest Lopez (McCollum), Stephanie Desmarais (Johnson), and Noe Cantu (Judson). High school coaches are encouraged to nominate their best players, with specific nominations for both games and skills challenges, ensuring that prominent athletes receive the recognition they deserve.

Jenny Carnes, President & CEO of San Antonio Sports, emphasized the importance of these games in showcasing young talent. "Our region continues to produce exceptional basketball talent," she said. The impact of past games is evident, with 62 athletes from the previous All-Star showcase currently playing collegiate basketball, highlighting the event’s role in bridging high school sports to higher levels of play.
