2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Games: Exciting Coaches Announced!

Update Exciting Showcase of Talent in San Antonio The anticipation is building for the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Games, set to take place on Sunday, April 12, at the Northside Sports Gym. This highly awaited event will gather 120 of the region's elite high school senior athletes as they compete in a thrilling Team Blue vs. Team White format. Not only will it feature both public and private school representations in the 1A-5A and 6A divisions, but it will also showcase the best of local talent through the skills challenge and three-point contest, captured live on KSAT 12. A Powerful Line-up of Coaches This year’s coaching staff brings together a blend of experienced and new talent. Returning coaches include Jaclyn Contreras of Brennan and Andrew Brewer from Alamo Heights, who are known for their dedicated mentoring and coaching skills. They will be joined by six newcomers: Vanessa Villarreal (Southwest), Ike Thornton (Smithson Valley), Lonny Hubbard (Steele), Ernest Lopez (McCollum), Stephanie Desmarais (Johnson), and Noe Cantu (Judson). This diverse group is sure to energize the games and inspire our young athletes. Growth of Local Basketball Talent Jenny Carnes, President & CEO of San Antonio Sports, highlighted the event as a significant showcase of community strength, stating, “Our region continues to produce exceptional basketball talent.” After last year's All-Star games, 62 athletes are now playing collegiate basketball, with eight receiving scholarships directly attributed to the exposure from these games. The event reinforces the commitment of local coaches and athletes to excellence and community engagement. What To Expect in 2026 Fans can look forward to an action-packed day highlighting high school athletics. Coaches will have the opportunity to nominate up to two players for the 1A-5A games and three players for 6A, ensuring that the best of the best get their chance on the court.
