JUST ANNOUNCED: Coaches for the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game presented by Valero »

Excitement Builds for the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game

The anticipation is palpable as coaches for the 2026 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Games presented by Valero have been officially announced. The event, set to take place on Sunday, April 12, at the Northside Sports Gym, will showcase 120 of the best high school senior athletes in our community. With Team Blue and Team White set to compete across two divisions—including both public and private schools—this year's lineup promises to be even more thrilling than before. Each session will feature both girls and boys games, offering an exciting sports event for the entire family.

Meet the Coaches Shaping Future Champions

Returning to lead the charge are seasoned high school coaches like Jaclyn Contreras from Brennan and Andrew Brewer from Alamo Heights, who both understand the tremendous talent in our area. They will be joined by new faces in the coaching lineup, including Vanessa Villarreal (Southwest), Ike Thornton (Smithson Valley), Lonny Hubbard (Steele), Ernest Lopez (McCollum), Stephanie Desmarais (Johnson), and Noe Cantu (Judson). This diverse group not only brings extensive coaching experience but also a strong commitment to community development.

A Showcase of Talent and Opportunity

Last year’s All-Star Games saw 62 participants advance to collegiate basketball, underscoring the event's role as a springboard for student athletes. “Our region continues to produce exceptional basketball talent,” noted Jenny Carnes, President & CEO of San Antonio Sports. The games serve not just as a competitive platform but as an opportunity for athletes to shine, create connections, and potentially earn scholarships with NCAA coaches watching eagerly.

Mark Your Calendars for an All-Star Experience

As game day approaches, fans can look forward to an all-star skills challenge and a thrilling three-point contest happening between sessions. The excitement will be broadcast live on KSAT 12, providing an opportunity for sports lovers across San Antonio to cheer on their favorites from the comfort of home.

With tickets going on sale in late January and rosters released just before the games, it's the perfect time to rally around our local athletes. Not only is this event a significant gathering for high school sports, but it's also a celebration of hard work, skill, and the passion that these students bring to both the court and their communities.
